Editorial & Medical Review Policy
At HIVLoveUSA, our mission is to deliver empowering, clinically accurate, and deeply empathetic lifestyle and relationship journalism. Discover our rigorous editorial standards and fact-checking protocols.
1. Evidence-Based Clinical Fact-Checking
Every piece of medical, epidemiological, or pharmacological content published in The HIVLove Journal is grounded exclusively in peer-reviewed scientific literature and official guidance from leading public health authorities.
2. Medical & Scientific Advisory Board Oversight
Articles relating to treatment adherence, viral suppression, transmission science (U=U), PrEP/PEP, and sexual health undergo rigorous peer review by licensed medical practitioners before publication.
- ✦ Clinical Reviewers: Medical reviews are performed by board-certified infectious disease specialists, clinical epidemiologists, and licensed marriage and family therapists.
- ✦ Verification Badge: Articles that have completed clinical vetting display an explicit "Medically Reviewed" badge containing the reviewer's full name, medical degree, and institutional affiliation.
3. Anti-Stigma Language Standards
Language shapes perception and emotional wellbeing. We adhere strictly to the CDC Person-First Language Guide and international anti-stigma writing conventions:
- ✦ We write "person living with HIV" rather than dehumanizing clinical labels.
- ✦ We distinguish clearly between HIV (a manageable viral infection) and AIDS (an advanced clinical diagnosis rarely seen under modern ART).
- ✦ We explicitly reject fear-based framing, sensationalism, and moralistic judgment.
4. Editorial Independence & Corrections Policy
Our editorial voice is 100% independent. We do not accept sponsored content that conflicts with clinical science or member privacy.
If you notice an inaccuracy or have feedback regarding an article in The Journal, please contact our editorial staff at editorial@hivloveusa.com. Corrections are verified promptly and noted transparently on the relevant page.
